Watch Out! Climate Has Changed, Fat Mum Rises… (2009) marks a bold evolution for Re‑TROS, pairing post-punk austerity with atmospheric intensity. Produced by Damon McMahon (Amen Dunes), who also contributed guitars and vocal textures, and engineered by Charles Burst, New York–based drummer and studio engineer with credits across Julian Plenti (Paul Banks), Neko Case, and AC Newman. Saxophonist Li Tieqiao brings free-form, improvisational breath into the band’s structured sound.

The album’s cover art was designed by Jonathan Leijonhufvud, the Swedish drummer of P.K.14 and a graphic designer. A playful twist in his design: while the lyrics printed in the album do not match the actual recordings, each letter’s frequency of appearance in the real lyrics is meticulously tallied and printed on the inner pages, creating a hidden statistical puzzle for attentive listeners and design fans.
